August Community Expedition
August 17 - 24
Start by camping on Greens Island, and getting familiar with our Bantry Bay gigs. Then as weather allows, we will venture to camp on other islands in Penobscot Bay in the Vinalhaven/Isle Au Haut regions by way of our Bantry Bay gigs. We will bring all of our food, water and camping equipment with us as we explore new islands. We will circle back to Greens Island at the end of the trip. Ferry from Rockland to Vinalhaven (short power boat journey to Greens) and back. Learn navigation, anchorage assessment, passage planning, wind awareness, tides and currents, among other valuable seamanship skills throughout the journey.
Leadership: Abby Colby, Coral Breuer, Dylan Ladds, Olivia Keene, Miles Turner, and Tara Watkins

“These programs take you out of the context of your regular life, changing all the conditions and enabling time to slow and presence to crystallize around being together in an incredibly vital and beautiful world of water, wind, wood, sails, sound, sun, land…Each moment and each day is an invitation to deepen our relationship with ourselves, each other, and our surroundings.” ––Mia, AC USA staff
