Meet Mary!
What are some of your favorite things about being part of AC? I love the adventures that Atlantic Challenge has provided me. The small whimsical trips around the bay can be just as meaningful as the grand ones to visit other nations. I love the sense of purpose given by being at an oar or sailing station in a Bantry Bay gig. The sense of belonging to a community that is both immediate and vast. When did you become involved with AC? When I was in High School, I was recruited after Cape Challenge took a field trip to NYC and stayed at my house. We took a row around the Statue of Liberty. I wanted to see more of those people and visited them in Mystic, and again on the Cape, and joined the team. Being on the team in Wales in 2004 is a highlight of my life. I've been involved with AC in many different capacities ever since. Have you had any other sailing/rowing experience? I grew up rowing Whitehall gigs in New York harbor, with Floating the Apple and the Village Community Boathouse. Where do you currently live? Riverside, Rhode Island Some things you do in your professional life or study beyond AC? I'm a mom of two young children. What are some of your hobbies? I have two cats, and sometimes and sing and play an English concertina. Favorite meal/food? Pea soup or burritos. Favorite song to sing while rowing? Sun Down Below |
