Meet Phoebe!
What are some of your favorite things about being part of AC? How do I say - EVERYTHING? It's not just the sailing and the singing (though that's pretty sweet), but the incredibly rich community that is built over a relatively short amount of time. From cooking together to star-gazing to morning dips off the pier, every moment is rich and full of presence. How long have you been involved with AC? I first became involved with AC through a Downeast Foxfire community trip in 2018. I fell in love with the entire experience and haven't looked back! Have you had any other sailing/rowing experience? No! I've done some whitewater paddling in Utah's canyonlands, but AC was my first time rowing and sailing. AC is such a comfortable place to be a beginner! Where do you currently live? Ludlow, VT, and part-time in our caravan in Burlington, VT! What are some things you do in your professional life or study beyond AC? I'm an herbalist (check out my skincare company, Renegade Apothecary!), designer, professional organizer, and community farm steward. No day is ever the same for me, and that's just the way I like it! What are some of your hobbies? Leo Sun, Sagittarius Rising, Libra Moon. I recently fell in love with hand-sewing and making cute patches for my clothes! If you could wake up with a new skill tomorrow, what would it be? To sing as well as the Gawler sisters! ;) Hmm, and perhaps to be able to fend off squirrels from the Powderhole with a wave of my magic wand... Is there an animal you feel a kinship with? Not squirrels! Ha, ha. I'm 100% a cat worshipper through and through! Favorite meal/food? I'm a sucker for buttered wild mushrooms, garlicky bitter greens, and a creamy risotto. Dark chocolate, 70% or higher. Herbed salts. Pine needle + citrus peel tea. Miso + seaweed broth (all broths, really). Everything tastes best when cooked with friends and eaten outside! Favorite song to sing while rowing? Valparaiso Bay! |
